A Curious Invitation present London Month of the Dead
THE ORPHIC MYSTERIES
A Dream Incubation Workshop with Sarah Janes
Sunday the 23rd October 2021 from 7 pm

Sarah Janes invites you to undertake a chthonic journey through the imaginal realm of dark radiance and prophecy and to drink the cool water of the Lake of Memory.

Orphism is an ancient Greek belief, that holds that humans embody a duality: their physical bodies having been created by the Titans, but their divine spark or soul deriving from Dionysus, the god of fertility, wine and ritual madness, who descended into the underworld and returned. In order to achieve salvation from our Titanic, material existence, we have to be initiated into the Dionysian mysteries and undergo teletē, a ritual purification and reliving of the suffering and death of Dionysus. Otherwise our souls will be destined to undergo an eternal cycle of reincarnation.

Taking the golden tablets of the ancient Orphic Mysteries as inspiration, Sarah Janes will guide workshop participants through hypnagogic reverie, using classical incubation techniques from antiquity. Once in the Underworld of your subconscious, you will encounter the goddess Mnemosyne - guardian of the Lake of Memory and the personification of remembrance.

Tickets £20 including a delightful Victorian punch and a 20% donation toward a host of restoration projects at Kensal Green Cemetery. Please click here to purchase.
