GHOST STORIES OF AN ANTIQUARY
A Gothic Theatre Performance Inspired by M. R. James
on Saturday the 24th October 2026 at 7 pm

As the bombs fall over London and the blackout descends, a small group of strangers take refuge inside a lonely chapel. Welcomed by the hall warden while the storm rages outside, they settle in to pass the long hours by sharing ghost stories. But as each tale unfolds, of cursed objects, haunted landscapes, restless spirits and forbidden knowledge, it becomes increasingly clear that these mysterious storytellers may have secrets of their own.

Presented by the Offie and Broadway World Award-nominated Midnight Circle Productions, Ghost Stories of an Antiquary is a richly atmospheric theatrical adaptation inspired by the classic supernatural fiction of M. R. James, the undisputed master of the English ghost story. Combining period storytelling, haunting performances and an immersive wartime setting, this chilling production brings together four of James’s finest tales: Oh, Whistle, and I’ll Come to You, My Lad, Lost Hearts, The Ash-tree and The Mezzotint. Join us by candlelight for an evening of classic ghost stories where the line between fiction and reality slowly begins to dissolve.
